Ice (2)

Wauw. We had an amazing afternoon yesterday. Our first plan was to go to the ice rink in Ter Aar. But then we spotted a lot of cars along side the road just after the Zeegerbaan. Turned out it was possbile to skate through the polder already. So we got on the ice just after Alphen aan den Rijn. And skated all the way to Zwammerdam and then onwards direction Nieuwkoop. And back. Twice.

The scenery was magical. Sun was shining bright in a clear blue sky. Sheep where in the feelds. The windmills looking quietly down at us. Hearing the sound of iron on the ice. And lots and lots of happy faces, young & old, everywhere around us.

One beautiful day in the pocket. And hopefully many more to come. Forecast says the ice thickness will keep on growing to 10-15 cm somewhere next week. Keep my fingers crossed we can go out on the lake (Langeraar or Nieuwkoop) then. That would be a perfect start of 2009!

Ice

Lots of people already been on the ice. Today is is finally d-day for us. Bought some brand new skates last week. Last time I've been on the ice (outdoors) has been about 7 years ago. So I figured it was time for new onces.
If the cold continues like it does hopefully we can do some icesurfing too by the end of the week. Read on the forum (www.windsurfing.nl) that in Friesland they are already up & running. Guys (and girls) have fun out there!

Last Ride 2008

Been out on my homespot two days ago. Probably the last (water)ride this year. As of tomorrow the temperature is going to drop below zero. I can't wait to put on my skates and hit the ice. Maybe some icesurfing too? If the cold continues that is. We'll know more in a couple of days.
