In the Limeshales (sports center) in my hometown Alphen aan den Rijn last Thursday a Wall of Fame has officialy been opened. The Wall shows more than 70 Alphense athletes who have won a bronze, silver or gold medal at National, Euorpean or World Championships since 1918 or have participated at the Olympics. My picture is hanging close to the restaurant. Martin Verkerk, Henk Angenent, Monique Kalkman and Tim and Tom Coronel are some of the other athletes who have a place on the Wall. The idea behind the Wall of Fame is to motivate and stimulate young athletes. As of the fifth of March there will also be a temporary exhibition in the city hall.
